The brewery "Wielemans-Ceuppens" was built in 1881. Soon after, it became a big commercial succes.
Around 1910 the brewery employed 250 workers and in 1931 a new brewingroom (??) was built, which was the largest in Europe at the time.
On the 29th of September 1988 the last beer has been brewed...
The buildings are protected by the governement since 1993 and will be re-used as an art museum.

We discovered the old brewery in Februari 2004 on a trip to the cokesfactory "Carcoke Marly" without paying much attention to it.5 months later we decided to check out the place! It was a wise decision.
The first time you step into the machinery hall it is really breathtaking! There are machines everywere with in the center a huge steam machine which provided the main building with electricity!Although everything is vandalized now,the beauty of the building and its iron inhabitants still remains...
